Our Story

A Foundation of Hope and Growth in Botswana
Founded by Cecilia Lachat in 2004, Mosaico EuroAfricano Company Limited by Guarantee is a non-profit registered under Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA), dedicated to creating lasting change for vulnerable communities in Botswana’s Kalahari Desert. What began as a simple preschool has grown into a multifaceted organization that not only provides free early childhood education to marginalized San and other vulnerable children but also pioneers sustainable solutions in organic agriculture, supports gender-based violence (GBV) initiatives, and offers training and livelihood programs.



Our Mission We believe in the trans-formative power of education, sustainable practices, and community-centered support. Through our projects, we empower individuals and families to shape their future by providing access to essential services, life skills, and holistic community care.
What We Do
Paolo’s Preschool: Each day, we welcome 110 children to a safe, nurturing space where they receive meals, clothing, healthcare, and early education. By offering free, high-quality early learning, we lay a foundation for these children to succeed in school and beyond.
Sustainable Farming and Conservation: Our preschool integrates organic farming, waste recycling, and water conservation to teach children and a youth members the values of self-sufficiency and environmental stewardship.
Expanding Support: We are building a Gender-Based Violence support center, developing after-school programs, and introducing skill-building workshops to provide further resources for young adults and community members.
Setting an Example At Mosaico, we aim to lead by example. By following best practices and sharing our resources, we hope to guide and inspire other organizations in the development sector. We understand the unique challenges of our region and are committed to promoting transparency, integrity, and impactful programs that strengthen the community. We encourage other NGOs to use our materials to improve standards, as we believe that collaboration and knowledge-sharing are vital to meaningful change.
